She began her career with a strong foundation in science and health, earning a Bachelor of Science in biology with minors in physical and health education and special education from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. She later earned her Master of Science in nursing with a focus on clinical nurse leadership at Rush University, where she deepened her commitment to evidence-based care and patient advocacy.

Kalbacken brings more than 7 years of oncology experience to her work at Ascension Wisconsin, where she develops and leads programs focused on cancer prevention, survivorship, and community wellness. Her leadership has been instrumental in building survivorship initiatives, coordinating educational events, and promoting holistic approaches to recovery and long-term health.

Throughout her nursing journey, Kalbacken has served in diverse roles — from oncology travel nursing across major health systems to international nursing education in Iraq — each experience reinforcing her belief in compassionate, person-centered care. She is also a certified Cancer Exercise Specialist and certified facilitator for Living Beyond Breast Cancer Survivorship and A Time to Heal Survivorship 101, using these platforms to empower survivors through education, connection, and movement.

Kalbacken’s mission is to help individuals find strength, balance, and purpose throughout their healing journey, championing a vision of survivorship that honors both body and spirit.
