Celebrating 35 years of impact

Living Beyond Breast Cancer helps people affected by breast cancer make informed decisions, find community, and access trusted support.

Join us on November 7 for our annual Butterfly Ball — an unforgettable evening celebrating the people, partnerships, and progress that have shaped our first 35 years and the future we are building together.

This year’s celebration takes place at Philadelphia’s iconic Please Touch Museum, the perfect setting for an evening of inspiration, connection, and joy.

Together, we’ll celebrate impact, honor extraordinary leaders in the breast cancer community, and raise critical funds to ensure that anyone facing breast cancer has access to trusted information, meaningful connection, and practical support.

Andrea and Abraham Morris Impact Award

Duane Morris logo

Duane Morris LLP

The award is named for Andrea (“Andi”) Morris, a two-time breast cancer survivor, and Abraham (“Abe”) Morris, a colon cancer survivor, both of whom lost their mothers to breast cancer at young ages. Longtime champions of LBBC, Andi and Abe have been among our most loyal and generous supporters and ambassadors.

Duane Morris LLP has been selected to receive The Andrea and Abraham Morris Impact Award. This is the fifth time Living Beyond Breast Cancer (LBBC) has bestowed this distinguished award. It is reserved for individuals or businesses that demonstrate exceptional passion, longevity, and commitment to improving the lives of those impacted by breast cancer.

Duane Morris’ dedication to providing pro bono legal counsel, particularly to LBBC, has been nothing short of transformative. LBBC’s relationship with Duane Morris began in 2013 when Jonathan Petrakis served on the Board of Directors. Since that time, we have worked with Christianne Campbell, now a board member, Thomas Spencer, Linda Hollinshead, and Colin Kniesly. The depth, consistency, and excellence of its legal counsel has enabled LBBC to add strategic partners, increase reach and impact and ensure policies and procedures are handled in the best way. This long time commitment make Duane Morris a most deserving recipient of this honor.

Duane Morris LLP, a law firm with more than 900 attorneys in offices across the United States and internationally, is asked by a broad array of clients to provide innovative solutions to today’s legal and business challenges.

Amelia O'Relly

Amelia O'Relly

The Going Beyond award is awarded each year to select individuals who we think impact their neighborhoods, communities, health care systems, and research institutions.

Amelia O’Relly is the founder of How to Breast Cancer, an organization fully dedicated to helping breast cancer patients, their loved ones, caregivers, and community by providing a central source of easy-to-use tools and practices developed from a patient’s perspective. Formally launched in October 2021, this online hub partners with other like-minded breast cancer organizations focused on advancing research, development, and ongoing support to improve the patient experience.

Amelia’s inspiration to create how to Breast cancer began after receiving her own breast cancer diagnosis in 2019 and beginning a cancer journey that is still ongoing. During this time, she’s learned that while much information exists about breast cancer, there is a need for a centralized place that is user-friendly and speaks directly from the experience of those who know and live it every day — a resource created from personal knowledge, experience, and empathy. As part of this work, Amelia was appointed to the Board of Directors for Living Beyond Breast Cancer, a leading national organization for trusted breast cancer information and support.

Community Vision Award

Lilly Bolen

Lilly Bolen and Tufts University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee

The Community Vision Award is presented to individuals whose leadership, vision, and dedication have created a lasting impact on the breast cancer community and inspired meaningful, sustainable change.

Following the loss of her mother, Lauren Bolen (a former Living Beyond Breast Cancer board member), Lilly Bolen turned her grief into a powerful mission of fostering community support, awareness, and funds.

As a sophomore basketball player, Lilly launched the Play for Pink initiative at Tufts University to benefit LBBC with the support of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). Play for Pink is now the most successful Athletics fundraiser in the University’s history, providing nearly $160,000 to support our mission and engaging thousands of students and community members.

As the former president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), four-year basketball team member, and a cum laude graduate of Tufts University, Lilly led her fellow student-athletes to develop a powerful fundraising initiative with real impact on health equity and patient support.

LBBC also honors with this award the Tufts University SAAC for its unwavering commitment to student leadership. Together, Lilly and Tufts University SAAC exemplify how higher education institutions can empower students to transform personal challenges into a powerful, lasting vision for their communities.

Phoenix Award

Miranda McKeon

Miranda McKeon

The Phoenix Award was inspired by a truth we have witnessed throughout our history: that even the most difficult moments — marked by fear, uncertainty, and loss — can lead to profound growth and transformation.

Miranda McKeon is an actress, content creator, and breast cancer advocate best known for playing Josie Pye in Anne with an E. Diagnosed with stage III hormone-positive breast cancer at age 19, Miranda has used her experience to raise awareness that breast cancer can happen at any age and that young people deserve to have their symptoms and concerns taken seriously.

Miranda has shared her experience publicly through social media, interviews, and advocacy work, speaking candidly about diagnosis, treatment, body image, breast reconstruction, survivorship, and the emotional realities of facing cancer as a young adult. Her openness has helped create space for more honest conversations about young adult breast cancer and the importance of self-advocacy.

Through her work as an advocate, storyteller, and creator, Miranda brings visibility to a generation often left out of breast cancer conversations. She continues to encourage young people to know their bodies, speak up about changes, and trust themselves when something feels wrong.
