Why BCAM matters

Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM) brings attention to a disease that changes hundreds of thousands of lives each year. It’s also an opportunity to better understand what people experience after a diagnosis, and how breast cancer impacts their families, friends, workplaces, and communities.

Most importantly, this month gives people, businesses, and organizations a shared opportunity to turn awareness into action. Learn how you can get involved this October.

Other ways to get involved

Donations are always appreciated, but there are many ways to show your support for people diagnosed with breast cancer — from learning about your breast cancer risk to supporting someone who’s been diagnosed.

Learn

Stay up to date on breast health and screening guidelines. Early detection through regular screening can save lives by helping people find breast cancer sooner.

Support someone you care about

Find resources to support yourself or the person in your life who has been diagnosed. You’ll find tips for communicating, ways to care for yourself, and inspiring stories from others in a similar role.

Share resources

Share statistics, stories, and tips about living with breast cancer. Follow us and share our posts or view our social media toolkit for sample messages and graphics that you can personalize.

More than 4,500 people joined LBBC’s live educational webinars in 2025

After living with lymphedema for 32 years, one webinar participant discovered new information about managing this long-term side effect. Through expert-led education, LBBC helps people understand evolving research, treatment options, and practical ways to manage side effects.

Thrive

Nearly 350 people received $375,000 in grants from LBBC in 2025

For one LBBC Fund recipient living on Social Security, help with a mortgage payment meant less credit card debt and more room to focus on getting well. LBBC provides grants that help ease the financial strain of breast cancer treatment.

Make your fundraiser your own

You don’t need to plan a large event to make a difference. Start with something you already enjoy and invite others to take part. We’re here to support you along the way.

Fundraiser examples:

  • Turn a performance, class, or creative project into a benefit; like Davey Bo’s comedy show.
  • Invite coworkers or customers to participate.
  • Create a birthday, milestone, or personal challenge fundraiser.
  • Host a community event and donate a portion of sales.
